My cute little Janey wakes us each morning with a cheerful "I wan get ou-out!" accompanied by a not-so-subtle shaking of her crib bars. But alas, today we heard a mournful "Ders bugs on my eyes!" instead. Sure enough, I found her lying helplessly askew in her little bed with both eyes sealed snugly shut. Pink eye?! Really?!
Since our doc visit one week ago for Jane's WELL CHILD check up, she's had an oozing ear infection, developed a phlegmy cough, and come down with a stomach virus that resulted in more sheet changes than we have sheets for. And really, our linen closet is bounteous! Now pink eye. Are they handing out free samples as you walk through the Dr.'s door with your healthy, chubby bundles? And of course Jane is always one to share, so Malan is under the weather as well. Reminds me of when we had the plumber in to fix a broken toilet and the next day two toilets and a shower broke.
I'm sure it is probably just this time of year rather than an Infectious Dr.'s office, but so much sick in so little time is hard to bear. And as my sis likes to say, "I didn't say it was their fault, I just said I was going to blame them."
So what's a mother to do when she finds her offspring in such a state? Naturally, I canceled all plans, donned a comfy robe, plopped my bleary eyed wee ones in front of the tv with blankies in one hand and waffles in the other, and stationed myself next to them with the laptop and a barfy bowl. If you need me, I'll be here all day. If you want to brave a visit, you can come and do my laundry 'cause we're running out of pjs.

That's awful! Hopefully all will clear up next weeek for Santa's visit. I personally blame the doctor office for it all. Same thing happened to us a month ago. Took both kids in, heathly as can be, for their well child check-ups few days later Brennan had EVERYTHING! Well Good luck...times like these you wish your own mamma was close by watching over you (and doing the laundry).
Holy cow, Kate. You're speaking some language I don't understand. Hilarious! Hope your kiddos get feeling better soon and that they don't share with Mommy and Daddy.
So sad for my babes (you included Kates) I NEVER went for well baby check-ups for that very reason. But when they do get sick from school, Holy Cow times 11~
Get better!
yeah, my english is not so premium.
As of one half hour ago, Rosalie barfed in her crib. Sigh. I'm washing sheets, too.
Good luck!
That's the worst. And I know what you mean about the pediatrician -- I'm half tempted to bring a bottle of Lysol with me every time I go to spray down all the other kids. And I'm not a germ-a-phob!
Kate, I always visit your blog when i need a good laugh! You are the best. Sydney woke up with glued eyelids too, so sad. I laughed so hard at the snowball video, that is award worthy!
OoohhH! I'd come do your laundry... if I were closer. Good luck being Dr. Mom and I hope it's all over with soon!
I hope you are all doing better now! I feel like we are living in the germ crossroads of the world. We have been cycling through it all, will it ever end? I love all your christmas photos and sentiments! I always loved your families tree too, and the hand-knit stockings, and the new years bon fire. You Hales know your holidays!
