Me: Ok, I'm going upstairs to get ready so you two stay here and I'll get your clothes. And guess what? We get to go see the baby today and you get to come too, if you're really good, ok?
Malan, who is 4: Mom, Dad's at school today. So even if we be bad, we still get to come.
Jane: Yeah, we get come!
Malan: Sighs and turns back to her book.
Me, thinking: My bargaining days are over.

Too smart for their own good. Thanks for the laugh!
(Loved the "if we be bad" part especially.)
Awesome!!! How quickly they grow up!
That is so funny! You should definitely get a babysitter some time just to prove her wrong. :)
Hilarious! Now you're going to have to whip out the "because I'm the mom and I said so" card.
HA HA HA HA...it was a good laugh, but as a mom of a 4 year old I can relate....I just think of the years to come. One day they'll be teenagers and will laugh and wish they were 4 again.
lol...Sometimes they really are smarter than we think.. Just the things they come up with.. goodluck:)
So did you find out what you are having yet? Did ya? huh?
ah kids.
Ha! If it makes you feel better my bargaining days are over and Elliot can barely talk. It goes something like this:
Elliot - "Pop?"
Janelle - "Eat something besides ketchup straight from the highchair tray and you can have a popsicle"
Elliot - blows a "this is what I think of you and your suggestion" ketchup tinged raspberry into my face.
-2 seconds later-
Elliot - "Pop?"
Hee hee! Did they be bad?
(And that's some advanced reading there, Malan!)
I've always said that Malan is so smart and WAY mature. My older kids haven't even figured that one out yet.
Oh, that's so funny! And naughty!! I hope they decided to be good for you at your appointment. Nothing like getting your blood pressure taken while your kids are running wild :)
What a little smarty. I love her that she said "...even if we be bad...". That is so cute. How fun that you get to be a mom of two darling girls.
Oh, and I just learned that the baby you are talking about in this blog is YOUR baby. Wow!! Congratulations!! I am so happy that you have another on the way.
Kate--you better let me watch your girls for you next time! I have been in the same spot:) Please let Malan and Jane come play with with my kids next time.
