Art and Introspection

We purchased a fabulous little easel from IKEA for Christmas, and I'm so glad. Because now I get to enjoy works of art like this one, a portrait of me done by my daughter Jane:

The picture is a little dark, so I've asked Jane to interpret her art verbally.

Me: What are those? (pointing to forehead)
Jane: Those are your wrinkles. And those are your "crazy eyes" and your "claws."

So lovely.

It also appears that I didn't do my hair again today, and that I may have a goiter growing under my chin. I should get that checked out.

Art is so illuminating. So is parenting.

It really is an advanced drawing for her age. And remember for kids, claws are a good thing.

and Crazy eyes at times!

On a side note if she could come up with that for her breathtaking mother, I'm pretty sure she should not ever be allowed to draw my picture.

I love that she can explain her art and inspiration so well. That is wonderful.

She show real talent as an artist- most 3 year olds can't get the detail of the wrinkles, crazy eyes and claws at that age.

you may want to frame that ikea board and just buy another. that's classic.

You know you can get that made on a tee shirt and wear it proudly everywhere you go. I love the "crazy eyes."

Your claws?? Chloe drew a picture of me at the computer, mouse in hand. I asked her to draw another one of me cooking dinner. So . . . I'd better go now.
