First you must know: I am opposed to birthday parties. I am a birthday scroodge. I'm stingy. I want to share my girls' birthdays with no one and keep them all to myself. Plus, I feel guilty making other kids' parents buy my kid presents.
But Malan had her heart set on a friend party this year and chose a party over a family outing and/or more presents. So we partied.
She debated and researched online with me and finally settled on a theme. With a little pinterest assistance and several trips to the dollar store, we whipped up a pretty fun day.
Here are some tidbits from Malan's fairy birthday party:
We painted and decorated fairy treasure boxes, filled our own pixie dust bottles, sifted for "lost treasure" and used it to make fairy bracelets, and had some fairy themed snacks.

Malan had the best time, and her friends are all very sweet (it was good to see that.)
A worthwhile event, all in all.
Though when the parents arrived for pickup and found their little girls jumping off the furniture trying to spear ceiling balloons with bamboo fruit skewers, I realized I hadn't thought through everything as thoroughly as I should have. Bad combination there.
P.S. Caleb used our air compressor to fill the balloons (brilliant) and did all the food prep. What a stud.
For my part, I am working on my birthday Scroodginess. I will honor birthdays in my heart and try to keep them all the year.

LOVE it! it all sounds fantastic and I bet those little girls were out of their minds with all the cute things to do!
Looks like a fun party! Brinkley wants to be a butterfly fairy for Halloween... so I am gleaning ideas for her costume from your blog. Thanks! Also, I saw that you made a shout out for family pictures in an earlier post. I'd be happy to take some if you would like. I'm trying to get better. I can't make any promises that they will be good, but I sure can try! Let me know.
so glad i'm not the only Scrooge out there. i have zero motivation for partys....i just want a special day with the birthday kid. but your party looked fab! one day i know i'm going to have to step it up. way to go . super cute!
Fantastic! You are the perfect mother for girls!
Wow that is hours and hours of work. What a stellar mother you are.
We haven't yet done a friend party... though we've had our share of family parties. My kids are really wanting a party this year, I guess we'll see. I'd decided that only every other year would merit a big party and last year they got some great celebrations.
ANYWAY, your party looks fabulous. I'm sure that Malan felt extremely loved being able to work with you for all the preparation. You are so great!
You make everything beautiful. Truly. You make a house a home and a group of people family... including the neighbor girls who I know will never forget this lovely party.
I have to smile... we have the exact same blue wall in our homes. Love it!
Happy 7th year Ms. M!
You've done an amazing job. Well done for putting your birthday scrooginess to one side. x
what a fun party. no matter what you do, it is always over the top (even if kids are jumping on the couch.;))
Wow, great party!
I wish I could have been there!! This is the most beautiful birthday party I have ever seen. So creative.
