Project Runway: Halloween

Good grief, I love this holiday. And I decided to make the girls' costumes again, which apparently means I decided I didn't want adequate sleep in the month of October. But I did have fun doing it, and I did get caught up on my NPR podcasts in the middle of the night.

Anyway, I give you-

Hermione Granger:
(I love that Malan picked this! Smart, lovely, talented, strong. Like Malan.)
Alice in Wonderland:
(it cracks me up so much to see Jane like this.)
 Little Red:
(this was maybe the most fun to make because Olivia was SO excited about it and
told everyone we met all month "I'm be Red Riding Hood.")
 Little Bones:
(this one I just embellished a little. How I love her toothy grin!)
I remember many a time my mom staying up late to sew things for me while she listened to books on tape. Thanks Mom. I sure loved all those costumes and prom dresses. I hope you enjoyed it like I do now. It's so rewarding for me to see the girls all decked out and happy.

That said, this may be the last year I do this for a while. I think it's time to simplify our life. We'll see if I have to eat my words next Halloween...

I sure am enjoying seeing all the great costumes you (family and friends) have come up with, too.
Happy Halloween!

The costumes are adorable. What fun to see a long blonde wig on Jane! I hope you can catch up on sleep in the next little while.

You are the man! I mean, mom :) I love Jane's intensity in the first picture. I think she looks a lot like me in it too. Hermione is a very appropriate choice for Malan indeed. Olivia and Emme are just too adorable.

Beeyootiful! I love each one so much! Little bones little teeth are so funny.
I become more of a do-nothing-for-Halloween-Mom each year. But I'm still stressed out. Why is that?

How is it to have four mini mes? That is the most complete Hermione costume I've seen. Jane is precious, Little red's dress is amazing. You show your artistry in little details like the heart on the skeleton! How come no one else ever thought of that? This is the kind of busy that really rewards.

Oh they are magnificent! I always think I'll simplify at the end of the Halloween crazy... but my kids are just so certain that I'm capable of doing everything that I'm ready to do it all again each year. :)

You really have a gift for creating things of beauty. How can that not be rewarding?

And happy birthday! :) Hope its a super one!

Oh my Kate. How do you do it? Those are incredible! Do you have a pattern for that red riding hood cape? I have been wanting desperately to make a hooded cape for my girlie. Please don't tell me you just came up with that from your own brain.

Those costumes are great! And each of your girls posed so well in them. I have recently gotten totally hooked on podcasts, too! WWDTM is a definite fave. Plus histories and finance and New Yorker Shorts - ahh there is so much more to be gained now by washing the dishes! You did a fabulous job, Kate. Happy Boo-Day.

I'm so glad you captured them all so well to share here.

So darling, Kate! Hermione is just fantastic (as are all of the rest). I still remember you whipping a semi-formal dress together for a BYU dance with a piece of fabric shortly before the dance. You amaze me.

Wow, whoa, wow! You made these! Kate, you are the most talented person I know. I too smiled seeing that blonde wig.

Each costume looks so ornate and rich! Your baby's grin is down right kissable.

I am 110% positive that you sleep one hour per every 24. Truth.

Kate! My goodness you are talented!! These consumes are GORGEOUS! Cole was Harry Potter, so its too bad he and Malan couldn't go trick-or-treating together. Alice is such a sweet little costume, and I can hardly stand Little Red because it is so adorable. And Emme just always looks like a sweet little gerber baby. You're not aloud to stop making Halloween costumes because it is just too much fun for us all to see!
