I know I sound like a broken record, but the summer always goes way too fast, and I get super bummed at having to send my girls back to school. We love being unscheduled and able to go where we want and do what we want all together. But they really do love school and are thriving there. Olivia started Kindergarten this year, and Emme has preschool three mornings a week, which means I am totally kid free a few times a week. So weird!
Olivia just had one day of school on her first week. She was really excited! No problems for her...she went right in and got to work.
The next Monday, she was back to start her first real week of school. I think it kind of hit her that this was it and she'd be staying all day, every day, and she got a little nervous.
I put on my bravest, most cheerful voice and encouraged her and told her how wonderful it would be. Then after a hug and kiss goodbye, I stepped into the hall and bawled my eyes out all the way down to the gym for the parent's cupcakes and kleenex breakfast (for those dropping off kindergartners.) I was the only parent blubbering so everyone kept asking if she was my first to go to school, or my last at home. They looked at me a little funny when I told them she's my third and her little sister is still at home. But man! I'm attached to these munchkins! I hate sending them away every year when I only get to hear little bits about their long, long days and then cram in the homework with them when they get home. It doesn't get easier for me. But I do see them happy and feel like this is the right place for them to be. They have loving teachers and good friends, and that's just more love and fun in their lives, and that's a good thing.
My squishy little Emme on her way to Bolton High! Bolton High Preschool anyway. She gets to go with her best boy Bennett and cousin Lucy this year and I think she'll love it. Missing you, girls! Hope this is your best year yet.

Ah, such cute girls!! They REALLY do thrive at school. That's got to make you feel good. If anyone in your family ends up not being a genius, I'd be surprised. With each new kid entering school, it's like - "ope, another genius - who knew?"
