Olivia turns 6!

I really love how much Olivia loves and looks forward to her birthdays! (Though when she started to ask how many days until her birthday every morning, starting in early February, I had to put the kibosh on that and tell her she wasn't allowed to start asking until April.) She is such a sweetheart and planning special days for her is fun because she's so appreciative and excited.

The day finally arrived! We started off with breakfast in bed, of course...

...and opened presents from Grandma Wilson and Aunt Wendy W. Later, Olivia I and went shopping  with birthday money from her Hale and Hancey Grandparents. (She picked out a spy bow and arrow and picked a bike to use her money towards on another shopping date with Caleb). Then Olivia helped me make her cake. She wanted it just like her cake when she turned 3, so we did our best to recreate it.

Olivia, and actually all the girls, are super in to spy stuff right now. So we thought up some spy games for her party with the cousins and Jack (her kindergarten friend and our neighbor) and Josh. We started with a laser crawl...

Only a few fingers and an arm or two were severed by the lazers. Everyone kept their heads.

Then it was time for jump or duck sword training, an important skill for all young spies. They quickly learned that if you mix up your jumps and ducks, you get foam-sworded in the head or get your feet cut off.

Off to target practice next...shooting balloon bad guys with foam bullets.

Then decoding a super important secret message with the awesome decoder key from secret agent Dad...

"Happy Top Secret Birthday Olivia! This will self destruct."

Present time! Olivia requested a spa kit and spy gear, received a lovely name necklace from Amanda and Josh, cute clothes and a frozen music box from Jack, and a spy laser security system from the Hales. AWESOME!!
Olivia gazes dreamily at her cake...

...gets bunny eared by Jane, and Emme whispers what she should wish for. Sisters are the best! Hee hee.

Then she did what she does best on birthdays and blew those candles right out.

Olivia the Spy, one year older.
Olivia is such a cool and fun person! She loves climbing on her dad at every possible opportunity, she loves reading to anyone who will listen, she loves hugs and snuggles and bedtime songs and dates with Mom and Dad. She is a kind sister and a good friend. Happy Birthday Dear Olivia! Only 364 days until your next one.

OH I love it. Such a cool birthday! I'm glad we didn't lose any heads from the laser maze. That was so creative and I could tell that Olivia was soaking up every spy minute of it! She is adorable. What a great 6 year old!
