There is a forest at the end of Joey's street with a dirt road through it where Joey has taken the kids go-carting all summer. It leads down to the the sandy bank of the Loosahatchie river and we have claimed it as our "backyard beach." It's not a hard stake to claim, because no one else is ever there, and it is the neatest place for us to get wet on hot Memphis summer days.
When we were ready to head home, we couldn't get the go-cart started, so Joey ran and brought back his car to pick up the kids and boards, while Caleb and I got ready to walk the mile or so home. After the car left, we realized Caleb's flip flops must have gotten lost in the river, because they were nowhere to be found. Luckily, we had some alternate footwear on hand.

Oh I'm so glad you documented the backyard beach!!!! WE don't have single picture of this! Joey is overjoyed right now as I'm showing him these. He's like "what if we forgot about the backyard beach?? that would be a tragedy!" glad someone is on the ball. :) These are great pictures and memories. How come you didn't write about Malan's flesh eating bacteria afterwards? Hahahaha. :)
