Kiddie Dream House

My girls and I spent the morning at the Treehouse Museum yesterday and had such a great time. It really got my brain working overtime, too, thinking about what I want in our future dream playroom. I made a list:

A little grocery store area with a cash register. what a great way to learn math, counting, and the value of a buck.
I don't think I can swing the fire truck, but a seriously fun collection of dress ups in an organized sort of closet would be fabulous. I would love to gather story books that go along with them.
I am in love with this kitchen set and if I could make one just like it I would. It is such sweet vintage goodness.
I remember adoring tables and chairs my size when I was small. I have been on the lookout lately for well made little wood chairs and tables that are bright and sturdy and don't cost a mint. The plastic ones we have are a health hazard as Jane tips over in them almost every time she sits down.
Other things on my list: pint size broom, duster, vacuum, and apron, a long and low craft table with lots of drawers for all our art stuff, a little sofa reading area, bright bookshelves, lots of bins and drawers to put toys away in at the end of the day.

Lovely dreams, but the kids are here and growing up fast. We get along pretty well with: our kitchen table, booster seats, old printer paper and watercolors,

a basket of plastic food and a nice hand-me down plastic kitchen,
the big broom,

and what beats a giant cardboard box?

If you happen to be in the "dream playroom" stage of life, check this out. Wow. And I'd love to know, what would be on your list?

My dream playroom would also include a full size, very squishy, comfortable overstuffed chair, just the right size for a grandma to read to the cutest grandkids ever....and they would be???

The essential--lego table. That's about all our playroom would need.

When I was little we had these big stuffed monkeys with velcro hands. I loved those. I think Logan would too. I love your blog Kate!

I think that awesome vintage kitchen set comes from pottery barn. I loved playing "school" when I was little, so I would want a chalkboard and some magnetic letters and numbers.
