We have yet to teach our children appropriate behavior when it comes to things of a bathroom nature. This creates occasional awkward social situations.
Formerly-
Malan, age 2, on a trip to the potty with her dad:
Malan, noticing cowboy boots in the next stall: "Dad, that man has pretty shoes."
Caleb: "Yep."
Malan: "And I have a pretty dress."
Caleb: "Yep. Are you done, Malan?"
Malan: "And Dad, you're wearing a pretty dress too."
Silence.
Next stall over: bodily noise
Malan: "Dad! There's a bumble bee in here!"
Caleb, thinking: We're staying in this stall until everyone else leaves.
And yesterday-

Jane, at the dinner table with us and our new friends:
Jane: bodily noise
Brief awkward silence
Jane: "What zat?"
All: chuckles
Jane: "Was dat my BUM?"
All: laughter
Jane: "Was dat my green poop?"
Everyone: laughter, some tears
Jane, indignant: "You all laughing at me!"
All: more uncontrollable laughter
Jane: "Mommy laughing at me, Daddy laughing at me, Malan laughing at me."
Jane: "Everyone laughing at me."
Then of course good-natured Jane joined right in.
Funny.
But we probably need to address this, somehow, soon. We are now accepting suggestions.
Until then, we will continue to allow potty talk and dancing with underwear on heads.

that is hilarious......
and it's cute now.....ride the cute wave as long as you can!
I had forgotten about the "bumble bee incident"--soooo funny! Thanks for sharing the funny.
When you figure out what to do about the potty humor let me know, until then...girls with Panty hats is pretty funny you have to admit
I think your girls have more than their share of personality, I love them, they would be so fun to hang out with! God luck on the potty manners, me and my sibs are all in our 20's and 30's and we still need to work on that!
So, it sounds like you REALLY impressed your new friends!! Good job. And I agree, something about potty humor just gets people giggling till they can't stop. I like when Malan says "of course camera - i love you."
Ha! We both posted pics of our kids with panites on there heads on the same day! Funny. Potty talk is funny too. When Tal was potty training and a dinosaur fanatic we were in the bathroom during Stake Conference. Tal went and said, "Look, Mom, a long-neck!"
I am pretty sure that I have an "underwear head" photo of Caleb somewhere...I will forward it when I find it.
I vote you keep doing what you're doing. It makes for such entertaining blog posts.
You have such cute girls with fun personalities.
laughed to tears! Loved Jane's dinner conversation. And Chloe has watched the panty-dance video many, many times.
you mean that's not normal conversation for the dinner table? I guess jon and i need to step it up a notch!
I think its great...kids should get to be silly while they still can!
Dresses, wellies and underwear hats. My favorite outfit.
Oh the joys...That IS funny.
Thanks for that. I agree with other posters... post-ers. Jeff and I were laughing near the point of tears.
