Cure for Creative Discontent

I don't know if it's preggo brain or something else, but I've been in a serious creative fog for months. Can't be satisfied with paint colors (poor husband of mine says we'll lose square footage if we paint a fourth time), can't make decisions on nursery decor, kitchen tile, fabric for kid clothes, recipes for dinner, curtains, projects . . . I feel like my taste in everything is in transition and like I can't start anything for fear I won't like it and I'll have to redo it. So all projects are on hold while my mind unbinds.

But (ahhhh) I did find some inspiration this week.

This is Malan's wonderful house. Don't you love the purple sky, and the green windows? And the floating orange door?

And don't you love how children have no boundaries in their art? They create what they love and what they think is beautiful. It is always fresh and unique.

I am also in love with these glasses. You won't see another pair like these this summer.

So after seeing these two fab creations, I asked my main babes to make some art for my dining room.

The process:

All finished.

I cannot tell you how much I love them.
(can you guess which painting matches which personality?)

I feel the end of the fog is in sight. Thank you main babes.

I LOVE those. Did you paint those canvasses black yourself or did they come that way? Is that acrylic paint? I need some creativity in my life!
Can't wait to see you soon.

I love the paintings! You are such a fun mom, it's great that our kids can help us out of our creative ruts. I can't tell you how many times my little sweethearts have inspired me right out of the dumps. Thanks for sharing!!

Kid art is awesome

I know what you mean! Kids are so confident and do everything with gusto never looking back. I have the same freeze right now (and most of the time actually). It's hard to do something creative for fear of not liking it or worrying if other people will like it. But - I need some kid creativity juices sent my way cause they have no fear and are so good at expressing themselves!!

so, your moments of creative fog are probably closer to my moments of creative genius...

I love your girls!
