Ranch Slide Show

So if this was the 70's (or the early 90's if you grew up at my house), this post would be the equivalent of a vacation slide show. Good news is, this isn't my living room, it is the inter-wide web. So I won't be offended if you leave now. In fact, I won't ever find out.

Other good news is, if you've ever wanted to know who/what made me the Kate that I am, here is your chance to meet my people.

The ranch slide show:

Ah, the ranch. Our slice of back-woods Southern Utah heaven.

The peeps. There are 2 parents, 12 children, 10 spouses so far, and 43 grandchildren, so far.
We ate. This is juli. She is a chef for better homes and gardens in Iowa. She cooks happiness.
Then we did Pilates.

Then we ate some more.

Then Lisa taught us African dance. The men were feelin' it.
They gamed. Too intense for me.
We speed-Scrabbled. I hung in there only until they brought out the online Scrabble dictionary for dispute resolution.

Some people had near death experiences.
Because we are Hales, we sang. Pardon the blurry karaoke pic, these jivers wouldn't hold still.

Because we are Hales, we had spirited conversations.

The little girlies had dance class.

The little boylies made ropes with uncle Joes. Then they tied each other up.

We hiked.
Some people had near death experiences.

And here are the Mikes. If you want to join our family you need to be named Mike (there are 3 of them) Sarah (there are 2 of them) Jon (there are 2 of them) or Katie (there are 3 of them). I don't know what the Mikes are talking about, but Jenny thinks it is funny.

And that is all.

almost. . .

Caleb + African dance = hilarious

I must question Chad's fashion choices. Was he really wearing socks and sandals AND his swim trunks simultaneously? Hmmmmmm

Looks like you guys had a blast!

That African dance picture was photoshopped in. I think it was from my solleyball victory dance.

Seeing pictures of the Grover Ranch brought back great memories of youth conferences there. It was so fun and generous of your family to let the youth have those same fun times. Great to see pictures of all of your family.

THANK YOU for posting these pics Katie!! It's the closest I will get to the Ranch this year. I miss it so much!! Thanks for the post on my site and for your never-ending support through everything. I would LOVE to see you when we move out to Connecticut. We drove through Pennsylvania on our way home from Boston and totally forgot you guys lived there! I don't know what I was thinking! We could have gone without staying in the bug infested motel room. Uhhgg. . .
We'll hopefully see you soon!

So mostly eating, dancing, and near-death experiences? That makes for good family fun.

I'm glad you got that pic of the girlies in a circle on the floor. I didn't even know that happened. I love that Rosalie is looking back at you.
I also love the pic at the end, so pretty.

It's wonderful! It's historical! It's hysterical! It's colorful!
I love it. Thanks for doing it, the organizing and the recording.

Yay for the Ranch! Who is that pregnant girl in the yellow shirt? Oh, yeah, she's not pregnant anymore. Well, the good news is, moving here has been good for the losing of poundage - as I suspected it would. Something about being content, maybe. Fun pics - and would you check out those leg muscles! Woohoo.

Your family trip looks so fun. I love that you sing and have "excited" conversations. I've tried my whole life to get singing going (it is so fun) and have never been very successful. We did sing in the car until, you know what happens, everyone started leaving home! Grandma Arlene
