Insights

(Aside: is anyone else as burned out on blogging as I am? Wow.
Dear distant family: I will try to persevere a little longer.)

It was conference weekend. Such a good weekend. Loved staying home with my family. Loved the words of hope and inspiration. Besides the spiritual insights, here are a few familial ones from the weekend:

Emme is low maintenance. Caleb is tired. I mean really tired, weary to the bone. This last year of school has been a doozy. Last month up at 3 am and gone until after dinner each day, and not unusual for the year, so if he sits down for a minute he's a goner. Mostly home this month (huzzah!) to study for boards. Hoping to sneak in a few naps as well.
Jane is concerned about fire safety. Each day this week before she left for school she made a little basket full of her best things and said on her way out, "Mom, this basket is right here by the door, so if the house burns down while I'm at school you can just grab it on your way out."
Jane also enjoyed conference. When President Monson said "Hello!" she laughed for about 30 seconds and then added enthusiastically, "Oh, I just LOVE that kind of guy!"

Olivia is "looking good." (Her words.)
Malan helped me deck the house for Halloween yesterday. She is such a mini me and I love it.
Final insight: these are yummy. If I had known you could make donuts at home my life would have been very different up to this point. Wow. Try them?
(Aside: please forgive lack of commenting etc., I'm reevaluating this blog thing. Meaning the hour or two a week I've spent in blog land is becoming harder to spare. I'm sure you can relate, and I won't be offended if you're less present here as well.)

The fire basket by the door! So glad you recorded that! Having a little separation anxiety from the house, I see. I love your blogs so much, but I will forgive you instantly if you don't do it, because I know you are off doing better things.

Holy moly your little people are hilarious! Mom told me you guys were making homemade donuts and you better believe Greg found me looking up recipes last night :) Here's hoping your handsome gets some much needed sleep!

You have FOUR children and a hubby in Med school! I couldn't find the time to sleep when I had 4 children let alone blog. I can't find the time to blog now! just throw on some occasional pics and notes for your personal history and don't worry about the clever banter. You are great with that, but if it zaps your brain power let it go. You need your brain for more important things (like breathing in and out and smiling.) We just love the pics when you can.

Those donuts look amazing... I think we'll make them for FHE! Did you use a maple frosting? Did you have a donut cutter? I'm sure I'll figure it all out! :)
I totally get the limiting blog time thing... I blog a few times a year and don't even feel bad about it :) I only read a handful of blogs... yours being one of my favorites ;)

Yes, the whole burned out on blogging thing.
Love the fire basket. And the picture of emme gnawing an apple while Caleb sleeps. We've got a pic of Steve snoozing with Lissa.
I think we'll try the donuts after Anderson finishes his month without sugar. Casey and I are off, too, but we end earlier.
I always love reading your blog. But don't keep it up if it's a killjoy.

SO many thoughts about blogging.. I think it's all time we take a hiatus. You, however, I have always admired that you only post when you have lovely things to post about... things that are FUN to read about. I am over the blogs that talk about every day stuff- dunno- that is ok for some- for me, if I'm taking time away from my little family, it better be good. This is how you are still on my list of 6 blogs I read each week.. I read about 15 total over about a month or so's time.

Your husband must be exhausted. What a journey over the years to be where he is. For both of you.

I'm going to read about that donut idea and love the fire basket. I remember the fear phase of fire when I was litte. Heck, i still have a box of must grabs. No joke.

*sigh* the social networking stuff. I'm deleting my FB account- talk about a waste any more. We're all caught up with each other, and if I really love you- I've found your blog and that is how I'll keep up with my real dears I've reconnected with via said site. We are all spending more time on line then we should. Fact.

With lots of love,
R~

O, I love your girls, they just make me laugh every time I read their witty little comments! Too funny. And the fire basket by the door, wow! What a thinker! Your poor hubby, I'm sure this is such a trek for you both to endure! Hope you are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

And just so you know, I love, love, love reading your blog. I love being in touch with you through our blogs and I love that I feel like I know your girls though I've never met them. I say, keep it up when you are able. It's not worth stressing over, but I think it's the absolute best thing to keep in touch with far away friends and fam.

i have a lot to learn from safety Jane; I mean, I talk a good talk, but coming to actually putting together an emergency fire basket? I've a ways to go.
Olivia IS looking good.
We need lots more mini-Kates in this world. Malan is really onto something there.
Man, just reading about Caleb's schedule makes my bones tired. I'll be sending high energy vibes your guys' way. Studying for boards is good. Well, not the studying part, just the part where boards are around the corner bit. That's always hopeful and sounds like a nice excuse for a party :).

I love this kind of post. You are amazing Kate. I agree with Shannon, the world could use a lot more mini-yous. As far as blogging goes, I find that I'm only blogging every couple weeks now and checking blogs for a few minutes a day and it feels like plenty, for me. I'm sure you'll figure out what you feel comfortable with and we'll all be happy to support your decision any way we can. :) We love you!

What funny stories. (I must say that I just love that kind of guy too.) Good luck on your blogging fatigue. I've been on the outs with blogging for a while too.

sure will miss it if you quit blogging. It is such great way to keep up with the change in our little great granddaughters, and to hear all the cute thing they do. Love all your great comments. But, I understand, it is time consuming, and will forgive you if you give it up. Give Malan an extra hug on her B day from us.

I completely sympatise. Finding the time or the energy to blog is harder.
Loving homemade doughnuts, must make some more for my family soon.

I just love "that kind of a guy" too! Hahahahaha! Oh, they're cute. I always giggle about Jane, when I think about when she was here. She's very serious when she's funny. Doughnuts? Must. Look. Away.
