A week out of school with all my girls home is better than a donut with joy sprinkles. I love that they have a real fall break in the south, it just does us so much good.
Our friend Anita arranged a nature hike in the woods for the kids, complete with water color nature painting at the end. It was beautiful and serene in the forest, and I just always feel like such a darn good parent if my kids are dirty before noon:
Later in the week we held a cousin camp out in the back yard and Aunt Katie and I slept out there with them under the stars. It kind of rules to be able to sleep outside this late in the fall. Bless you Memphis climate.
I think I only had to separate maybe 2 sets of cousins and change Jane's sleeping bag location 3 times and threaten everyone maybe 5 times to go to sleep or they would have to sleep inside. And only had to threaten loudly maybe once. So it was awesome.
Can you spot 5 Wilson girls? Even our bunny is female. Fluffy Wilson likes to join in at reading time.
Oh happy times. Loved every minute, even the ornery ones.
(Also, our bookshelf/window seat (above, pre-styling) is done! Many thank yous to the handsome carpenter who spent his very rare free weekend moments over the last year building that for me. It is quickly becoming the favorite spot in the house. Now I need to make a window seat cushion and it will be official.)

Loved it all! Do miss the warm Memphis weather. Winter can be biting, but intermittant and brief. Love the backyard camping. Love the built in bookseat. That is going to be a major selling point for your house someday.
Oh! Wonderful pictures. Dear, dear faces, and threet, threet, threet. What a feast. Many thanks
Oh, such bliss! It looks like heaven! It seems to me, that most places have a full week of fall break (besides Utah, of course). I could be wrong, but I think its been the norm everywhere we've lived.
yeah, but for the first time last year we got a real spring break!
I am insanely jealous of your window seat.
That sure seems like a nice bunny to lie there like that. Bunnies I met in my childhood liked to scratch with their strong back legs.
As always, lovely pictures.
Loved the pictures! Especially the lovely green caterpillar against the gray. Contest-worthy.
what a totally awesome post! I too love the nature pictures. love the tent pics and what a fun fall break.
Such pretty pictures! I love your cousin campout. Sounds super fun! Willa loved looking at pictures of Olivia. Miss you!
So magical! Love making memories with the kids. And nice job handy and never home carpenter! Miss you like crazy
