Halloween '13

Gracious me but the days do seem shorter. Hoping to write more soon, but for now these pictures will have to be worth the thousand words I can't find time to type.

Our Halloween 2013:

The beautifully creepy arachnid on her web on our front bushes. We let her stay all through October since it was a fitting decoration, and just at the end of the month she moved out of her web to make her masterpiece. Her babies are all bundled up in this quarter-sized world. I think it's beautiful, but I also think I will move it on its branch to a location farther away from the house...

Some spooky touches around the house:

The mysterious masked sisters after our fun Halloween kids' book club at our house. Wish I had more pictures, but we made masks and apple-marshmallow monster mouths, read books, and had warm rolls and hot caramel apple cider. It brought the autumny feel to our home. It also brought about 23 children and their moms, which sounds crazier than it felt.

And our ladies: Malan as Athena from Percy Jackson, Jane as Mavis from "Hotel Transylvania," Olivia as Alice, and Emme as a baby ghost. Her idea, probably as a way to get her binky back for an encore performance.

Hope your Halloween was happy! And mysterious and spooky and a little creepy, too.

I know that spider! These pictures are way better here than on facebook! I didn't notice the cool pink fading detail on Malan's costume, before. All really great costumes! I can't wait to see Hotel Transylvania so I can relate to Jane's outfit. Love the staches!! so funny. all the rage. Hope it was an especially fun holiday for you!

Those big garden spiders are beautiful. I don't mind having them around either; they are so docile and they eat lots of bugs! My kids love seeing their big webs. However, I too moved the egg sack away from the house:)

Your girls are beautiful as always Kate!

Wow I love your finished bookshelves/window seat and toy storage! It's a dream for your girls to live in! You are amazing, my dear. I love the flowy baby ghost. Olivia looks good as a blonde. Jane is awesome and Malans auch a good little book lover. Miss you guys! Too bad kids don't read blogs then they could recognize me and watch me get older as I'm watching them, so they could recognize me when I see them next!

THose are cool spider pictures! You are a neat mom to take pause and wonder at such things to help your kids appreciate nature. All you Hale girls are like that and I love it! So, the mustached family picture- let me just say that Olivia's head is cocked just so with her perfect little face that it makes for the perfect stached evil genius. I've loved that picture so much. And of course, all the girls pictures. You are smart to take GOOD individual shots of them. Actual Halloween shots are lame cause costume parts disappear and the lighting is terrible. I love your beautiful pictures!!!

Please tell me you used the super-zoom feature on your camera to get those spider pictures!! You are braver than me. Love the Halloween costumes--your girls are such beauties!

Love all of this. We had a big egg sack near our house too. I went to show it to Farrah the next morning and it was GONE! A little freaky.
