He Hate Me

So I'm pretty stoked. This Friday is our first He Hate Me (our team) soccer game of the season. At this point, it's my only motivation to exercise. Perhaps I should give you a brief overview of soccer and my love story.

It started when we were very young. It involved purple leggings. . .
And a look of sheer competitive determination. Where have we seen that face before?
Oh, right. It progressed to poorly altered teal jerseys and cool hair.
And then we became high school sweethearts.
It's okay, they hadn't invented tweezing your eyebrows yet.
After high school, soccer and I went our separate ways, but finally found each other again. Older, slower, but still well dressed, we're very much enamored again. As you can see from my look of sheer competitive determination.

I really am so excited. Caleb would say it's where I release all my bottled up aggression. What aggression? I ask. Then he laughs and laughs. I guess I got a little fired up last season when another team's goalie pulled Caleb down by the ankle. I only pushed him once though and didn't say any swears out loud. Should be loads of aggression releasing fun! Wish us luck, I really, really want the first place hoodie this year.

Do I see Tina Marie in that top one? What is it with valley kids and being such incredibly dirty soccer players. It must be the water they drink up there. I also have a very vivid memory of Dana standing in between the goal and me one AYSO-Saturday and somehow I ended up flat on my back. She used to scare me!

Kate! You inspire me! You do so much and do it so well!
I HAVE been planning on coming to get a window, dispite what you might think! We're a little crazy and would you believe that I haven't been to the valley in forever? Yeah, Zach is the one that has been lately. Good luck with all the plans for the move AND the vacation! Sounds like good times! We'll be in touch! Thanks!

thank you thank you thank you for posting those pictures!!! what a great trip down memory lane! i'm jealous that you are playing again. i tried to get back into. too slow and out of shape. it's been way too long for me. (one of my biggest regrets is that i never tried out for the high school team. what was i thinking?!?!?!)

and let's be honest...i think everyone was scared of dana. that's what made her so good. i remember girls on other teams being so schocked cause she could drop kick the ball to midfield and throw it almost as far!

ah, the memories...thanks for brightening my day!

I agree with Alyson...what great memories!!
And to answer Kim's reply, we weren't incredibly dirty, we are just incredibly competitive! :)
Some of those pictures are kind of scray though. What were we thinking back then! But I guess back then we were in style.

Ha! I love those grimaces. I guess that's your twitterpated look. Good luck releasing those demons. May the hoodie be yours.

Kate, I didn't know that you loved soccer that much. I am a huge soccer fan (though I haven't played for a long time). I guess when we were room mates there was a lot that we missed. It seems we were both a bit preoccupied with life. Those pictures of you are great!
