It's been too long, I know. Can't promise I'll be better. Just so very, very busy.
busy, but happy.
Here's what you want to see anyway, the good looking people:
More good looking people:
My neice Katie and her husband Jeff, who came out to visit while Jeff interviewed at Pitt Med. How much do I want them to move here? A lot.
These lovely peeps entertained our children for 3 days while I sat on the couch eating, sleeping, drooling, etc.
They also may have experienced what my family calls "Evil Sleep-Kate," a persona I take on when I fall asleep before everyone else and then get awakened suddenly. Involves loud voice, confusion, reprimanding, occasional throwing of pillows. I am so ashamed. . .
And in case you're interested, my recent thoughts:
Caleb is on week 5 of surgery right now. I see him for minutes a day. That is dumb. But those minutes are really nice. He provides me with his daily anecdotes just before heading to bed. Best yet: the crochety surgeon who stood up for him, mid-surgery, when the scrub tech called him "Kah-leeb," by shouting, "It's CALEB! Don't you read the damn bible?"
Malan going to school has been a real beating for me. Four weeks in and I think I'm almost handling it. It was rough on her, too. We're tight, people! But she's a superstar and wakes up most days now really excited to go, which means I can be good with it, too. Why didn't anyone tell me it would be so tough? I mean it, I want answers.
Jane has taken to getting herself nose to nose with every adult she comes in contact with- including teachers, parents, and my friends- taking their faces in her hands, and saying with awe-struck sincerity, "You're beautiful!" Never fails to get a positive response.
Olivia thinks we share a liver. She codes if she is detached from my lap or hip for more than a few minutes during waking hours. Good thing she's stinking adorable.
Well, there you go. Thanks for keeping us posted even when I fail to reciprocate, it means a lot.

Love the crotchety surgeon story. And love the pics.
p.s. a busy life is better than a current blog.
those babies are soooooooo (there are not enough o's in the world) beautiful.
it continues to baffle me as to why we are not neighbors. because i love to surround myself with great people, and well, that would be you guys.
and i like jenny's comment. that's a great tagline, i say. i just might "piggy back" aka steal it sometime. thanks, jenny.
Keep those wonderful pictures coming. I try to kiss them, but it just doesn't cut it. love ya
Worth the wait.....
i love you guys!!!!! best people around!! the surgeon story cracks me UP!!! and i am basking in janes compliments :) hee hee :)
Does anyone else gasp when they see how much Ms. M looks like you!?!?!
You're girls are beautiful. The End.
We love your thoughts. They mean even more when you've been away from the blogging world for a minute or two. You're witty and wonderful. We all love you and this insight to your life!
R~
That damn Bible is full of good names! Best story yet! And your girls...I don't have enough exclamation marks for them! Love your updates!
We need to "skype" soon. I miss you all like crazy.
A telemarketer asked for "kah-leeb" once at Mom & Dad's. I think I told them they had the wrong number.
So jealous that Katie and Jeff got to visit and that they might live near you! I'm telling Greg to start looking for jobs in your area - although Mom has already said she would kill us if we moved out of state :)
Give your girls a snuggle from Sissie.
Nice to see your pics and get your updates! Love the Kahleeb story. I'm so messy here, the house is stressing me out, I want to crawl into a fort and have a not-a-school-night party. (I know that was the previous post, I looked back.) I'll be wishing for the burgh for the Browns.
I just can't say it enough, how BEAUTIFUL your girls are! And I love how they look just like you! Especially Malan, she is you in Kindergarten! Love the pics! And love that surgeon story, how funny!
she codes...snort!
I love the "share a liver" analogy. My last three were that way for the first year of their lives. I formed a habit of not being able to do things that I'm trying to break myself of still.
Miss yous guys.
Those eyelashes on Olivia--gasp! So glad you got to spend time with my Katie and Jeff.
Your girls are beautiful and have cute fun personalities. I hope the rest of surgery goes fast so you can get your husband back. Good to see you a couple weeks ago.
oh how i love your girls, and you...and i guess your husband's alright too. ;)
school is an adjustment, but hopefully it'll click over emotionally at one point. it stinks. that's why i LOVE summer and school breaks so much. my heart goes out to you my friend.
and jenny, i LOVE that quote.
Fabulous update! I love all the pictures! You really are a fabulous photographer!!!
It's okay to be busy!!! Glad you're all doing well!
hey there. good to hear ya. so, i want to see the evil sleep kate. it would make me feel better since got one of those too. :-) and we'll have to fight over getting katie and jeff. but that might be selfish since even if they come to vanderbilt they are 3 hours away. so maybe we'll let you have them. sounds like caleb is demanding respect in the medical field - or it's being demanded for him by crotchety surgeons. good stuff. love you!
