All Things Halloween

Well, I am just THROWING this post together today. This time of year always moves in fast forward. So much going on. Wonderful, fun, exciting things. But I'm just running on to the next of these, so please pardon a bit of a haphazard report on our Halloween:

New additions to our usual decor, by Wilson children-

Last minute running out the door pics of costumes (low-maintenance-rummaged-through-the-costume-bin-and-did-a-little-altering kind of costumes. Thus I was happy and well-rested all month)
Malan the gypsy/genie (she went back and forth)
Jane as Little Orphan Annie (vintage)
Olivia The Bride
Kate the cheerleader and Caleb the good-looking guy who made it home in time (joy!), with munchkins, and the Skywalker family who joined us for trick or treating.

And it was also my birthday. I was sufficiently spoiled! Caleb stashed my favorite autumny candles all over the house and found me a copy of my favorite old movie, Random Harvest.

Sheri made me the most awesome cupcakes, Marie and Alicia brought me yummy smelling autumn soap, Katie cooked me crepes for lunch and baked such a delicious golden birthday (31 on the 31st) cake. (Plus Katie just kept buying me my favorite foods all month and pretending they were for my birthday.)

Joey made me golden birthday ginger ale and, wait for it...a hand-dyed "Fashion Carol" golden birthday disc golf disc! What?!!!!! So awesome.

Oh, Fashion Carol, why are you so funny on a disc golf disc?
Really, family and friends, you outdid yourselves and it was a wonderful day.

What a fun holiday. And even more fun this year, letting go of some of my "needs" to have costumes and decorations and parties and menus just so, and just winging it a little and spending more time relaxing with family. Ahhh. Let that be a lesson to me.

Here are some spooky pictures to leave you with from our trip to the Elmwood Cemetery:

I would pay cash money for a fashion carol disc golf disc of my very own! Best present of all time (excepting the lonesome dove video you guys made for dad last year). Your girls are such good decorators; I want one of those paper draculas. Also, please stop giving Olivia ideas - she makes way too pretty of a bride at this tender age :)

I'm so glad you had such a happy and relaxed (relatively speaking) birthday!

Holy moly, where to start. I love so many of these pictures. So I absolutely love the cemetery statue looking into the sun. I felt like I had to shade my eyes and squint to block out the sun. Also I love that you captured that moment when I was putting the lid on the ginger ale. I love the cupcakes. I want to take a bite. Thanks for having a birthday. That was so much fun.

I love that you fit into your junior high cheerleading outfit....
We will have to make another trip to the cemetery, sans kids, to check out the great historical headstones!
The girlies look great in their costumes.

Hey! What gives!? Where is your award-winning party costume? (most original right?) Maybe because you had amateurs take your picture? was it blurry? Oh, you are so creative and fun. I loved little orphan annie. She was soooo excited about it. And her cool red hair. And I agree -- Olivia is too pretty to be a bride. I loved the genie too. So, I just want to say, you are pretty selfless. You WERE really relaxed and fun and helped us get good pictures instead of your own family. Loved the creepy pics of statues and brew.

That is so awesome! All of it--but how does Joey know how to hand-dye plastic? Wait, I forgot--there is nothing Joey doesn't know about disc golf.
I love low-key costumes. They are the best. I hope to have all dress-up box costumes myself next year.

Happy Belated Birthday, you incredibly smart, loving, wonderful woman. You are so talented and your words just warm me right up. I was so happy to read that you had gone a bit easier on your self this year, but still had a very memorable time. I swear all I could do was slow clap for the prior year costumes that you have made. Wow. Just wow.

Also to be filed under Wow- you in that Snowcrest Cheerleader outfit. Speaking of slow clapping....

I heart you.
